All clients in receipt of social assistance who have been assessed as work ready or who have the potential for employment, as determined by the Employability Assessment, must actively participate in a case plan or a work search plan.
Case plans and work search plans are written plans that are mutually agreed upon by the client and case manager outlining a client’s employment goal and the steps needed to reach the objective of self-sufficiency.
Section 6(b) of Regulation 95-61 under the Family Income Security Act states that as a condition of continuing eligibility for assistance, the client must "continue to satisfy the Minister that they continue to explore to the best of their ability, every possibility of financial support, employment, training and education and every possible opportunity for self-sufficiency available to them."
Failure to complete the activities in the client’s case plan may result in termination of all financial assistance and closure of the case.
Documentation required:
- A signed Participation Agreement and the client’s Employability Assessment results
Additional documentation:
- A signed, detailed case plan or work search plan; and
- Additional documentation relevant to the case plan such as, a job search log, attendance records and NB Case notes.
Refusal to sign any of the above documents could be considered non-compliance and may result in termination of financial assistance.
