When the last dependant in a one parent or two parent household leaves the household, eligibility will be recalculated, after the dependent has been rendered ineligible. The new case may change from a two person rate of assistance to a single person rate. To allow for the transition, the case manager may over-ride the system determined rate and give the two person rate for a maximum period of two (2) months.
Under exceptional circumstances, when in the assessment of the case manager, the parent did not have sufficient time in which to prepare for the reduced rate (e.g. death of a child), the case manager may provide the same amount as previously issued to the household for a period of two calendar months. For example, a single parent with one child receiving $809 per month may continue to receive $809for the two months following the dependent leaving the home.
Be aware that the override rate will be from the Rate Schedule A, which may be different from the rate the client was previously receiving.
The member window should always reflect the actual number of people in the household.
After two months, the rate of assistance must be adjusted to reflect the actual number of people in the household.
