Celebrate New Brunswick Day with us on Monday, August 5th, in downtown Fredericton!

The day will be filled with great entertainment and fun activities for all. This free, all-inclusive event will take place rain or shine. Queen Street will become a pedestrian walkway for the duration of the event; bring your lawn chairs and spend the day.

Celebrations begin at noon with all sorts of music genres and artists such as:

The lawns around the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Legislative Assembly will be decorated with New Brunswick flags and banners.

The Legislative Assembly building will be open to the public throughout the event until 4:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what goes into creating the legislation our Province follows! Please be aware of the security regulations and bring a government-issued ID.

FREE children’s activities from noon until 4 p.m. on the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Christ Church Cathedral lawn include:

  • Bounce castles
  • Bounce slides
  • Snow cones
  • Cotton candy
  • Popcorn
  • Face Painting
  • Balloon Artists

The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will have FREE admission during their operational hours.

  • Join the Beaverbrook Art Gallery's programs team and summer students for engaging art activities inspired by New Brunswick's rich cultural heritage and the art on display. Make a mixed media painting, an artful button, a folk-art inspired painting on board or a plasticine sculpture!

Try a gallery scavenger hunt with your family and friends and discover your favourite works of art in the Gallery!

Street performers: jugglers, roaming performers, and stilt walkers; this year’s stilt walkers will be New Brunswick birds and will be unveiled for the first time at this event.

On Queen St, there will be games and activities set up as well as the Bannock making experience done by Jenna White

  • Tic tac toe
  • much more!

Emancipation Day will also be celebrated on the 5th with FREE activities happening at Officers Square, including:

  • Music with DJ-Wakanda
  • BBQ
  • Artists
  • Photo booth

The following food trucks will be ready to serve you with a wide variety of choices during the event:

  • Between the Bun
  • Milda’s Pizza and More Inc
  • PJs Wings and things
  • Poppy’s Kettle Korn & Lemonade
  • Street Greek
  • Ultimate Tiki
  • Warung Indonesia
  • Mini Morsels

FREE hotdogs while quantities last.

The Explore NB Steet Team will be set up with information, swag and fun activities.

St. John Ambulance will be on hand.

Fredericton Water Department will have its portable water station set up for the duration of the event. Don’t forget to bring your reusable waterbottles for the event.

Fredericton Capital Region Tourism will also be present on the lawn of the Legislative Assembly.

There will be a New Brunswick Day market set up on the lawn, with New Brunswick vendors selling their unique wares such as:

  • Live painters
  • Artists
  • Henna art
  • Local artisans
  • And much more

Interactive activities will be set up on the Legislative Assembly lawn, including a selfie stand; giveaways of refillable water bottles, beach balls, flags and tattoos, while quantities last; Come decorate a cookie and experience Bannock making on an open fire. There will also be Quartermain Museum, DAAF, Jesse Campbell Magic, The Unveiling of the Great Blue Heron, Walking Tours and Science East to give interactive science experiences. We are also excited to welcome New Brunswick Artist Brittany Schuler to live paint the event

We are fortunate to have a chance to educate New Brunswickers on the history of fishing and hunting as well as the safety that goes along with it. Minnow Tackle Shop, Fredericton Fish and Game Association, Fredericton recreation leader, Tourism Development, and United Guides & Outfitters of New Brunswick, will be doing fly-tying and fly-casting demonstrations and will share the stories of New Brunswick fishing. There will also be lesson on how to kayak and a fly-casting competition. New Brunswick has a rich history when it comes to fishing and hunting, and we are celebrating it alongside our province!

New Brunswick Day is an ideal time to celebrate why there is no better place to be than here in our province. We have so many stories to share and so many reasons to be proud.

This New Brunswick Day, we will be celebrating our province together through our music, our food and our experiences with friends and family.
