Dr, Mary McCarthy Brandt is a Black community leader and Elder and is committed to telling the stories of her ancestors, as a 6th generation woman of African descent in this beautiful province of NB.
A few accomplishments
- 2023 – received the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Medal
- 2022 – received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from St. Thomas University
- 2021 – established & became executive director of REACH in NB (Remembering every African Cemeteries History)
- 2020 – received a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Toronto, OISE, with a specialty in Social Justice.
