Want to learn more about your legal rights and responsibilities under the New Brunswick Human Rights Act?
Under the New Brunswick Human Rights Act, the Human Rights Commission has the mandate to educate the public about their human rights and responsibilities, as these are defined in the Act and explained in human rights case law. To fulfill this function, the Commission drafts guidelines on different topics, which provide the Commission’s interpretation of human rights protections under the Act. The guidelines summarize up-to-date human rights case law on the topic, include references to academic and socio-legal research, and distill the research and best practices of other human rights commissions across Canada.
For quick reference and simple explanations of each guideline, consult the two-page versions that summarize the information of each guideline in plain or simplified language.
