Hunting regulations
Licensed hunters have a legal and ethical responsibility to know the hunting laws for the jurisdiction where they are hunting. Although the annual Hunt and Trap book and federal Migratory Game Bird Regulation documents describe the major hunting regulations in the province, they are a summary of the hunting legislation and are not legal documents.

In New Brunswick, most hunting laws are described by the provincial Fish and Wildlife Act and its regulations. This legislation may be viewed at the Acts and Regulations site.

Big Game Harvest Report
The New Brunswick Big Game Harvest Report summarizes annual harvest information for New Brunswick’s big game species, specifically moose, white-tailed deer, and black bear. This document is an important planning tool for hunters and describes licence and application statistics, hunter success rates, wildlife population levels, and harvest data such as animal size and age.

Wildlife Management Zones
Many of New Brunswick’s hunting regulations are applied at a Wildlife Management Zone level. Non-resident bear and non-resident moose licences, for example, are valid for a specific Wildlife Management Zone, rather than for the entire province. A description of these zones can be found in the Wildlife Management Zone booklet. Wildlife management zones may also be viewed online as a map.
