Yes. Parents or guardians have to complete an application form and receive their child’s identification number prior to their vision appointment.
I don’t have insurance. Is there a maximum benefit amount that is covered for my child’s eye exam?
Yes. Parents or guardians without insurance will have the cost of their child’s eye exam covered under the benefit up to a maximum of $76.04.
I don’t have insurance and my child needs glasses. Is there a maximum glasses benefit amount?
Yes. Parents or guardians without vision insurance will have the cost of their child’s glasses covered under this benefit up to a maximum equal to what the Department provides for HSCV clients which is $282.29 for single vision lenses and $296.51 for bi-focal lenses.
Note: The maximum benefit for corrective glasses reflects the fees as per the Provinces HSCV agreements with the provincial vision associations.
I don’t have insurance and I want to purchase high-end frames for my child. Can I pay the difference out of my own pocket?
Yes. Parents or guardians who wish to select high-end frames or lens enhancements may pay for these out of pocket.
