Grass fires require permits, written burn plans and pre-inspection by a forest service officer.

When wanting permission to burn outside of Forest Fire Season contact the Department of Environment and Local Government at (506) 453-2690 or consult their website.
Report a forest fire
What should you do if you spot a wildfire that seems to be unattended? Call 911 or call the Natural Resources and Energy Development office closest to you.
Provide the following facts:
- Your name
- Your telephone number
- The exact location of the fire
- A description of what is burning
- The size of the fire
- Is anyone fighting the fire?
- Access to the fire
