Manufacturers may submit price changes for drugs listed on the New Brunswick Drug Plans Formulary as outlined below. Manufacturers should consider the following when submitting price changes:

  • The New Brunswick Drug Plans cannot accept a submitted unit price that is higher than the listed unit price in any other jurisdiction in Canada for products listed on the Maximum Allowable Price List.
  • The New Brunswick Drug Plans cannot accept a price increase that is higher than the Consumer Price Index (CPI) Based Adjustment factor for patented drug increases.
  • Only products listed on the New Brunswick Drug Plans Formulary will be reviewed.


Submitting Price Increases

  • The annual deadline for price increase submissions is January 31. Accepted price increases will be effective April 1. Products submitted but not accepted for a price increase on April 1, will be automatically reassessed for an implementation date of July 1.
  • Submissions received after January 31 and mid-cycle updates will not be considered.   
  • Requests for price increases must be sent to [email protected] and include a completed Price Change Request form. Please include “Price Change Request” at the beginning of the email subject line. Do not copy any NB Drug Plans officials or staff.
  • Decisions on acceptance of price increases will be sent to manufacturers prior to the effective date.

Submitting Price Decreases

  • Price decreases may be submitted throughout the year.
  • Requests for price decreases must be sent to [email protected] and include a completed Price Change Request form. Please include “Price Change Request” at the beginning of the email subject line. Do not copy any NB Drug Plans officials or staff.

Price Change Request Form

Manufacturers are required to use the Price Change Request form to submit price changes. Manufacturers will be sent an email confirming receipt of the Price Change Request form.


Submitting Price Increases

  • Requests for price increases must be made directly to the pan-Canadian Pricing Alliance (pCPA) through the centralized price change process. The centralized price change process uses a single form that is submitted to the pCPA. Do not copy any NB Drug Plans officials or staff.
  • The annual deadline for price increase submissions is December 31. Accepted price increases will be effective April 1 of the following year. Products submitted but not accepted for a price increase on April 1, will be automatically reassessed for an implementation date of July 1.
  • Approval of a price increase is at the sole discretion of the province.
  • Submissions received directly to NB Drug Plans will not be considered.   
  • Decisions on acceptance of price increases will be sent to manufacturers prior to the effective date.
