Message to motorists from the Office of the Registrar of Motor Vehicles

Driving is something many of us do daily without a second thought as we go about our busy lives. It is important to remember that driving is a complex task that requires our undivided attention and awareness.

You may be a novice driver obtaining your driver’s licence for the first time; an experienced driver applying for a higher class of licence; or a driver who has been asked to requalify in order to maintain your driving privileges. In any case, this handbook will provide you with the information you need to prepare for testing and increase your knowledge of the rules of the road and safe driving practices.

As responsible drivers we must be aware of all road users and safely share the road with other motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and commercial vehicles. Refrain from driving while impaired or fatigued, keep your attention on the road and always wear your seat belt. Remember the life you save may be your own, that of a family member or a friend.

Drive safe!
