Prescription Receipt Information

The following information is required on prescription receipts provided to New Brunswick Drug Plan members:

• Name and address of the participating provider
• Member name and address
• Date the drug was dispensed
• Prescription number and the number of refills remaining
• Name of the prescriber
• Drug name, strength, form, DIN or PIN
• Quantity of the drug
• Day supply of the drug 
• Co-payment amount
• Total cost of the prescription
• Drug cost* 
• Dispensing fee 

* Drug cost is equal to the total prescription cost less the dispensing fee.

If a member chooses to pay for a prescription and submit the receipt for reimbursement (instead of the pharmacy submitting the claim on their behalf) the following additional information must be provided to the member, either on the prescription receipt or separately:

• Participating provider identification number
• Prescriber license or registration number
• Intervention or exception code

Non-participating providers are required to post a notice advising clients that they are not participating in the New Brunswick Drug Plan. Prior to filling a prescription for a New Brunswick Drug Plan member, a non-participating provider is required to advise the member that they are not a participating provider and that they may charge the member an amount that is higher than the amount charged by a participating provider.

• Name of the prescriber
• Drug name, strength, form, DIN or PIN
• Quantity of the drug

• Dispensing fee 

* Drug cost is equal to the total prescription cost less the dispensing fee.

The following additional information must be provided to the New Brunswick Drug Plan member, either on the prescription receipt or separately:

• Licence or accreditation number of the non-participating provider
• Prescriber license or registration number
• Intervention or exception code
