GNB recognizes that busy lives require workplace flexibility and, as such, Pro-rated Salary Leave is available. It can support work-life balance by providing the opportunity to request time off and have salary deductions pro-rated to cover the cost.

Between hockey practices, dance recitals, volunteering and many other realities, we’re often faced with more commitments than available time off. In these instances, Pro-Rated Salary Leave can be a helpful tool to consider. It can also be used to support desired down-time by extending a regular weekend, or for taking additional leave around paid holidays such as Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas, Family Day, Easter, March Break, etc.

Pro-Rated Salary Leave can enhance existing paid vacation and is available to bargaining and non-bargaining employees, subject to the operational needs of your department, as well as to collective agreement provisions, if/as applicable. You can ensure income continuity, with no interruption of pensionable service, by making arrangements with your manager and human resources to have pay deducted over up to 26 pay periods to cover the cost of the leave.
