The Cannabis Management Corporation (CMC) is a Crown corporation responsible for the distribution and sale of non-medical cannabis on behalf of the Province of New Brunswick.

The CMC ensures that legal cannabis retail outlets are secure and responsible. It also makes policy and legislative recommendations for cannabis retail and distribution in the Province.

Cannabis retail and distribution

The CMC has a service provider agreement with Cannabis NB, a subsidiary of Alcool New Brunswick Liquor (ANBL) to establish a cannabis retail and distribution network in New Brunswick. The CMC provides oversight and receives the net profit/loss from Cannabis NB operations as per the service provider agreement.

Corporate Structure

The board of the CMC is composed of the Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury Board (Chair), the Deputy Minister of Health (vice-chair) and the Deputy Minister of Justice and Public Safety as well as up to four additional senior civil servants, one of whom must bring an economic development lens to the board.
