The Prescription Drug Program provides drug coverage to eligible residents of New Brunswick.


Individuals who hold a valid health card issued by the Department of Social Development. Eligibility for drug coverage through this plan is determined by the Department of Social Development. (see Related Links)


The New Brunswick Prescription Drug Program Formulary (see Related Links) lists the drugs which are eligible for coverage for each plan. Prescriptions for these drugs must be filled by a pharmacy or designated dispensing physician in New Brunswick in order to be reimbursed.

Individuals on this plan are required to pay a co-payment of $4.00 for each prescription for adults (18 and over) and $2.00 for children (under 18 years) up to a maximum of $250 per family unit in a fiscal year.
