Composting Facilities Approvals
Composting facilities exist throughout New Brunswick as a means of converting organic materials into finished compost. The Department's main concern with siting and operation of the compost facilities is that they be operated in a manner to prevent unacceptable impacts to the environment and that the finished compost meet federal compost quality guidelines.
The approval and accompanying Guideline for the Site Selection, Operation and Approval of Composting Facilities in New Brunswick are intended to provide direction for the appropriate siting and operation of compost facilities in New Brunswick. The approval and guideline have been developed to minimize the potential for environmental impacts while allowing for development of this industry in New Brunswick.
