Overview
An air quality approval is required by owners or operators of a source of air contaminants, for the construction, operation or modification of the source. This applies to most existing or new industrial and some commercial or institutional facilities.
Eligibility
This approval applies to anyone constructing, operating, and/or modifying what is considered by the Government of New Brunswick to be a source of contaminants.
Description
Each eligible facility or individual is required to submit an approval form and payment. This approval process includes application review, approval development and issuance, and compliance verification. The actual time spent on providing these services increases with facility complexity and associated environmental risk. Annual fees for air quality approvals are broken into five classes, from most to least complex: Class 1A, 1B, 2, 3, and 4 facilities.
Users are encouraged to register for online payments.
To register for online payments, follow these steps:
Step 1
• Create an IAM Account (Identity and Access Management Account) with Service New Brunswick. Click here
• After an IAM Account is created, an email will be sent with a personal User ID and Account Number. Keep this information as these items are required to complete the form in the next step.
Step 2
• Complete the three parts of the Client Authentication Registration Forms and attach an image of a void cheque.

Part 3 - Client Adminstrator Registration
Step 3
• Email the completed documents to ELGfinancesEGL@GNB.CA
Within an estimated two business days you will receive an email confirming activation of your account and instructions on how to proceed.
