Electrical Plan Approval
Justice & Public Safety
A plan review is required for electrical installations in excess of 600 amps at 120/240 volts, 400 amps at 120/208 volts, 400 amps at 347/600 volts and for any installations having a voltage in excess of 600 volts. A plan approval must be completed before a wiring permit can be issued.
An electrical plan approval is required by any person, firm, corporation, company, partnership or electrical contractor attempting to install a type III electrical installation.
Three copies of plans and specifications must be submitted to the Chief Electrical Inspector. The plans must comply with the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code and Regulation 84-165. Orders that changes be made shall be incorporated into the construction of the electrical installation and no other changes shall be made without the prior approval of the Chief Electrical Inspector. The electrical contractor must ensure that a copy of the approved plan and specifications is available on site.
