Victims of Crime - Court Preparation and Support
Justice & Public Safety
Overview
Victim Services provides court support and preparation to help victims testify in court.
Eligibility
All victims of crime in New Brunswick who are required to testify in court may be eligible.
Description
Victim Services can help victims of crime prepare for going to court. Victim Services coordinators can explain what happens in court, the roles and responsibilities of various people involved in the court process, and help you understand what is expected of you when you testify. They can also arrange tours of the court room and help identify any special needs you may have.
Victim Services can assist you in preparing a Victim Impact Statement if the accused is found guilty. The Victim Impact Statement is a written description which explains the physical, emotional and financial effects the crime had on you, in your own words.
