Government of New Brunswick

Any person who is a resident of New Brunswick and who carries on the business of an insurance agent for travel insurance in New Brunswick must have a valid licence. This applies to all types of selling, whether in person, in writing, or by telephone.

There are no pre-requisites or examinations for resident travel insurance applicants; however, they are required to be sponsored by an insurer licensed in the province.

Non-residents wishing to sell travel insurance in the Province are licensed as accident and sickness insurance agents and must hold the same licence in their home jurisdiction. (See Insurance – Accident and Sickness Insurance Agent information page.)

Criminal record checks are by done by the New Brunswick insurance regulator on new applicants or applicants who previously held a licence but two years have lapsed since their last held licence.
