Casino - Registration
Casino key employees, casino employees, gaming suppliers, non-gaming suppliers and trade unions representing casino employees need to be registered in order to perform duties or provide services to the casino.
The Gaming Control Act requires that the Registrar look into the honesty and integrity, past conduct, financial history and competence of the applicant while considering to grant or deny a registration.
Casino key employees and casino employees
Individuals who work at the casino may be required to be registered. These individuals must be 19 years or over and will be advised by the casino operator if they need to be registered.
Gaming suppliers, non-gaming suppliers and trade unions
Gaming suppliers, non-gaming suppliers who provide goods and services to a casino operator in an amount that is equal or greater than $500 000 in any fiscal year of the casino operator, unless the non-gaming supplier is exempt from registration, and a trade union representing employees of a casino must be registered.
Casino key employees and casino employees
To apply for registration, a person must complete an application form, submit the applicable fees and provide an offer of employment by a casino operator.
A background check will be made on the applicant and the Registrar will consider the application and either grant it or deny it.
A casino key employee or a casino employee must apply for a renewal of registration before the expiration of their licence, every 4 years.
A casino key employee is an individual who is employed in the operation of a casino and who:
(a) manages casino employees, directly or indirectly, other than those who are casino housekeeping or maintenance employees,
(b) exercises significant decision-making authority with respect to the operation of the casino,
(c) is responsible for human resources and staffing of the casino or is in charge of the accounting, internal audit, purchasing, compliance or information technology areas of a casino,
(d) is an officer of the casino operator, or
(e) provides training, under contract with the casino operator, to individuals in gaming, dealing, equipment installation, maintenance or repairs or any other gaming-related aspect of the casino
A casino employee is an individual who is employed in the operation of a casino who:
(a) works in a sensitive area of the casino,
(b) is authorized to issue complimentaries to reward customers of the casino or to promote customer loyalty,
(c) is the immediate supervisor of any person whose duties are covered under paragraphs (a) or (b), or
(d) is the manager, or holds any managerial position above that level, of the immediate supervisors of the housekeeping or maintenance employees of the casino operator
Gaming supplier and non-gaming supplier
To apply for registration, a person must complete an application form and submit the applicable fees in order to do business with the casino operator.
A background check will be performed on the applicant and the Registrar will either grant or deny the application.
The registration of gaming suppliers, non-gaming suppliers and trade unions expires after one year from the date of the issuance or until terminated.
