Overview
Driving instructor permits are issued to authorize the instruction of other people in the operation of a motor vehicle.
Eligibility
Applicants must pass an examination as specified by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
The applicants must satisfy the Registrar of Motor Vehicles that they have:
• adequate knowledge of traffic laws;
• a criminal records review;
• ability to operate a motor vehicle and to instruct in the safe operation of a motor vehicle; and
• a valid applicable class (5 or higher) New Brunswick driver’s licence with a minimum of four years experience.
Note: Instructors must operate under a New Brunswick licenced driver training course.
The required fees shall accompany all applications.
Description
The Motor Vehicle Branch of the Department of Justice and Public Safety provides licensing services for instructors.
Instructor's permit must be renewed annually on December 31.
In order to retain a driving instructor's permit, the holder shall, every three years after the original issue of the permit, pass an examination as specified by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
Fees
Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
