Government of New Brunswick

Overview

The location of the boundary lines between adjacent properties can be a contentious issue for landowners. They often spend a lot of money to have the courts resolve the issue.

If you own land in New Brunswick and you are unsure of the location of the boundaries of your land, you may want to use the service offered by Service New Brunswick under the Boundaries Confirmation Act.

Eligibility

A transcript of evidence is provided to a party.

Description

The service offers landowners a process by which boundary disputes can be resolved without going to court, and at less cost. The act permits the Registrar General of Land Titles for New Brunswick to establish the location of the land boundaries that are in dispute. For instance, you and your neighbour both have a survey plan or a description producing an overlapping strip of land claimed by both. You would like to resolve this problem. The Boundaries Confirmation Act may offer the solution you need.
