Overview
A Power Engineer's Licence authorizes the holder to work in power or heating plants.
Eligibility
To obtain a First Class Power Engineer Licence, applicants must have held a Second Class Power Engineer Licence for two years, must have six years of related practical experience and must pass the required examinations.
To obtain a Second Class Power Engineer Licence, applicants must have held a Third Class Power Engineer Licence for two years, must have four years of related practical experience and must pass the required examinations.
To obtain a Third Class Power Engineer Licence, applicants must have held a Fourth Class Power Engineer licence for one year, must have two years of related experience and must pass the required examinations.
To obtain a Fourth Class Power Engineer Licence, applicants must have six months of related practical experience under the direct supervision of a power engineer or approved course of instruction and must pass the required examinations.
Description
A First Class Power Engineer Licence authorizes the holder to be Chief power or shift engineer of any heating or power plant.
A Second Class Power Engineer Licence authorizes the holder to be Chief power engineer of a heating plant or of a power plant not exceeding 1000 therm hours, or shift engineer of any heating or power plant.
A Third Class Power Engineer Licence authorizes the holder to be Chief power engineer of a power or heating plant not exceeding 400 therm hours; or any low pressure heating plant; or shift engineer of any heating plant or power plant not exceeding 700 therm hours; or assistant shift engineer of any power plant.
A Fourth Class Power Engineer Licence authorizes the holder to be Chief power engineer of a high pressure heating plant not exceeding 200 therm hour; or of a low pressure heating plant not exceeding 400 therm hour; a shift engineer of a power plant not exceeding 400 therm hour; an assistant shift engineer of a heating plant not exceeding 700 therm hour or of any low pressure heating plant; or shift engineer of a high pressure heating plant or power plant not exceeding four hundred therm-hour; or shift engineer of a low pressure heating plant not exceeding four hundred therm-hour.
