FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has launched a new toll-free information line for New Brunswick veterans who are seeking information related to programs and services.
Calls to 1-844-462-8387 will be answered by trained bilingual agents who will offer a brief overview, eligibility requirements and information on how to access provincial government programs and services.
“Since many of the services accessed by veterans are delivered by the province – such as health care, long-term care and housing – the establishment of this toll-free line will provide a direct verbal link to government for veterans who are seeking information,” said Brian Macdonald, legislative secretary responsible for Veterans Affairs. “This new initiative is one more example of how the provincial government has offered its support to our veterans, our military and their families.”
Calls will be toll-free within North America. The number will be listed in the blue pages of all New Brunswick phone directories as well as with 411.
Agents will also be able to link callers directly to Veterans Affairs Canada.
"I would like to commend the provincial government on its commitment to veterans through its work on ensuring that they have direct access to the information they want and need,” said federal Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino. “The new information line is an excellent addition to the programs and services already available to veterans in New Brunswick."
The service will be provided by the same agents who are responsible for the Seniors Information Line, which can be reached at 1-855-550-0552.
