An apprenticeship program is comprised of on-the-job training as well as technical training (Block Training), which culminates in recognized occupational certification. Approximately 20% of an apprentice’s training involves technical training at a post-secondary training institution. As such, an apprentice is required to attend classes, generally at a training institution, for several weeks each year.
