Future GNB

Future GNB: A glimpse into your future in the public service at the Government of New Brunswick

Future GNB is a government-wide initiative that establishes formal pathways for students to access experiential and work-integrated learning opportunities within the public service. The program is open to all students studying in New Brunswick, including domestic and international students.

To achieve this, we will focus on:

Pairing students with trained and skilled mentors
Leveraging student talent to contribute to GNB's workforce during their studies
Increasing the number of skilled students ready to join the workforce
Increasing the number of students staying and working in NB
Being a valued partner in a student’s education and career pathway
Providing opportunities to experience multiple career pathways in a practical work setting prior to graduation

Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to create connections with other public servants and Future GNB students, as well as participate in round-table discussions, seminars, and workshops. Most importantly, students will see the value in being public servants and helping to improve the lives of New Brunswickers and our province.

"Being a person who has spent over 20 years in the private sector, experiencing how the public sector works was a great opportunity. I did struggle with all the acronyms in the beginning. Still, it was so fulfilling to see the interconnectivity of units and roles and how what every individual does is geared towards positively affecting New Brunswickers.

The Future GNB program was a great opportunity to network with fellow GNB participants and get to know GNB overall. The Rapid-fire session was particularly enjoyable, and I also had the opportunity to attend several Roundtable sessions, which were very insightful and helped me see how government works from different perspectives. However, the highlight of the program was the virtual career fair, which was well-organized and very impactful."

"As someone born and raised in rural New Brunswick, being part of civil service was an opportunity to give back to the province I love so dearly. Coming to work with an understanding that what I was doing would help my family, my neighbors, and anyone else who decides to call NB their home was so motivating; every day, I showed up wanting to do better and be better for them!

The Future GNB program has given me many amazing opportunities, from working independently on a research project with a small team to networking with many inspirational and knowledgeable GNB employees. My eyes have been opened to all the job opportunities within GNB, and I hope to continue working here after graduation."
