New Brunswick has a total land mass of 7,344,000 hectares, of which approximately 5% is considered farmland and only roughly 2% is used for crop production. Much more has agricultural potential. The department promotes environmentally sustainable agricultural practices for crop and livestock production and provides programs and initiatives to support land use for agriculture.
