Guidelines for the management of contaminated sites

The Department of Environment and Local Government's (DELG) contaminated sites program covers everything from the release of a contaminant, notifying the department of the release, conducting site assessments, remedial activities and monitoring, and achieving site closure.

The Guideline for the Management of Contaminated Sites Version 3.0, March 2023, commonly referred to as the Contaminated Sites Management (CSM) Guideline or process, is the approach used in New Brunswick for the remediation of contaminated sites.

The Guideline for the Management of Contaminated Sites was developed by the Department of Environment and Local Government (DELG) based on the guiding principles of protection of human health and the environment, as well as the endorsement of a risk-based approach to contaminated site management.
