FREDERICTON (GNB) – LuminUltra Technologies is creating seven additional full-time jobs with support from the provincial government.

“LuminUltra is a gem of this province’s science and technology sector,” said deputy premier Stephen Horsman. “It is wonderful to see an innovative New Brunswick company continue to grow and thrive. These will be good-paying jobs that ambitious young New Brunswickers will want to pursue.”

Horsman spoke on behalf of Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also the minister responsible for Opportunities NB.

The biological monitoring technologies company currently has 44 employees. All new jobs will be located at its head office in Fredericton.

In support of these new jobs, LuminUltra Technologies is eligible for an investment of up to $171,425 from Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across the province. The investment will be used for payroll support, as well as market development, marketing and administrative costs.

“As a company that does business all over the world, we are always pleased to be able to speak about the exciting things happening at home, here in Fredericton,” said LuminUltra Technologies president and CEO Pat Whalen. “The partnership and support we have received from Opportunities NB and the Government of New Brunswick has been important in helping us reach this stage in our development. We are continuing to grow in our mission to change the way the world thinks about micro-organisms in water.”

The government’s multi-year innovation agenda aims to foster innovation and boost research and development in the province. The government will invest more than $53.5 million in 2018-19 to support innovation by encouraging innovators, boosting research and development, supporting the development of entrepreneurs, fostering innovation spaces, leading the cybersecurity agenda and being innovative in the way the government conducts business.
