The Canada 150 Art Acquisitions Program for NB Schools is a special initiative put in place to celebrate Canada 150 by offering public schools in New Brunswick the opportunity to acquire original artworks by New Brunswick's emerging, non-professional or professional artists.


Artist Requirements and Eligibility:

• Artists must be professional, emerging or non-professional artists and reside in New Brunswick or on a First Nation community in New Brunswick or is a member of a recognized New Brunswick artist association or artist organization;

• Artworks must be by living New Brunswick artists;

• Artists must include a short biography (max. 150 words in Word format) about their career and/or their training and education as an artist;

• Students (high school, college, university) are not eligible for this program.


The primary goal of the initiative is to enhance students’ awareness of the arts, build visual literacy skills and develop appreciation of the visual arts by providing schools with access to original artworks to be installed in schools. The initiative is offered to both Anglophone and Francophone school districts and provides up to a maximum of $1,000 per school to purchase artworks.

Deadline for Submitting Artworks (Artists): October 31, 2017
Deadline for Purchasing Artworks (Schools): March 31st, 2018
