New Brunswick Immunization Schedule


Overview

The New Brunswick Immunization Schedule is set by the Department of Health-Public Health. Vaccines recommended in the immunization schedule are provided by Public Health and other healthcare providers throughout New Brunswick. “On time” and “on schedule” immunization provide the best protection against vaccine preventable diseases.

Routine adult immunization schedule

Influenza vaccine yearly.

Td6 vaccine every 10 years.

Tdap vaccine replaces one of the Td doses.

Tdap vaccine to pregnant individuals during every pregnancy.7

MMR vaccine8 (individuals born in 1970 or after)

Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine to individuals 65 years of age and older (one dose only).

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine to individuals 75 years of age and older living in the community if they have not previously received the RSV vaccine.

 


Targeted adult immunization schedule

Age

Vaccine

≥ 60 years (individuals living in the long-term care sector or hospitalized and awaiting placement in such facilities).

Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccine9 (RSV) (one dose only)

 

≥ 60 years (individuals hospitalized in rehabilitation units within hospitals (or specific rehab centres) due to an acute illness or injury as well as those hospitalized in acute care beds awaiting transfer to these units or centres).

Indigenous individuals ≥ 60 years. Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccine (RSV) (one dose only)

DTaP-IPV-Hib: diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, inactivated polio, & Haemophilus influenzae type B

MMRV: measles, mumps, rubella and varicella

Tdap-IPV: tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis, inactivated polio

HPV: human papillomavirus

Tdap: tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis

Td: tetanus and diphtheria

Tdap: pregnant individuals regardless of their age

MMR: One or two doses of the vaccine, depending on the number of MMR doses previously received. Adults born after 1970 should contact their health-care provider, Public Health office or a pharmacist for information about measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) immunization.
