“Expropriation” is the government's statutory authority through the powers granted to it under the Expropriations Act (New Brunswick) to acquire privately owned land for a public purpose without the owner's consent.
The Expropriations Advisory Officer is an independent advisor in the property expropriation process in New Brunswick. They provide recommendations on proposed expropriations and hold public hearings on any disputes over proposed expropriations.
