The government and Port Saint John joint task force to investigate the latest events at AIM, to examine all aspects of the situation.


Overview

Announced on September 18, 2023, a task force was established to lead and co-ordinate a thorough investigation into the latest events at American Iron and Metal (AIM) operations at Port Saint John and examine all aspects of the situation.

The final report and findings were delivered on December 5, 2023. A summary of the findings is available here.

The task force has delivered the report and findings to decision-makers, including provincial government departments and agencies and Port Saint John, to determine next steps with respect to issues such as regulatory requirements, approval to operate, salvage licensing, public health directives and further testing.
