Health Services Respiratory Program

Overview
This program assists clients of this department with coverage of respiratory equipment and supplies which are not covered by other agencies or private health insurance.
Eligibility
This program is available to:
• Clients of this department and their dependents
• Individuals who have special health needs and who qualify for assisted health care under Section 4.4 of the Family Income Security Act and Regulations
Clients must have one of the following:
• A valid white Health Services Card showing “SUPPLEMENTARY’ in the BASIC HEALTH ELIGIBILITY section, or “OX” in the ADDITIONAL HEALTH ELIGIBILITY section
OR
• A valid yellow Health Services card with a “Y” under the OTH in the VALID ONLY FOR box, or an “X” under SUPP in the VALID ONLY FOR box
Additional benefit specific criteria may apply.
In order to be eligible for full benefits through this program, you must not have any other coverage for the service(s) required.
Description
This program covers
Purchased equipment
• Aerosol machines, peak flow meters, aerochambers etc, flutter devices, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, vaporizers
• Suction machines
• CPAP machines / BPAP machines (up to $4000.00)
• masks for CPAP and BiPAP
• Oxygen conserving devices
• Cough assist machines (clients followed by the Ventilation program only)
Supplies
• CPAP and BiPAP supplies
• Ventilation supplies
• Oxygen cylinder refills and liquid oxygen refills
Rentals
• Concentrators with back up
• Oxygen conserving devices
• Oxygen saturation monitor
• Liquid oxygen systems
• Extra oxygen tanks
• Portability systems
• BPAP S/T and BPAP with AVAP machines
• Ventilators, related equipment and supplies
This program does not cover
• Back up ventilators when the primary ventilator was not purchased through the program
• Cough assist machines for clients who are not eligible for the Ventilation program
The period of eligibility for purchased equipment varies
Eligible supplies and rentals may be (services are) paid monthly but quantities and frequencies are monitored.
There is no cost to eligible clients for entitled oxygen and breathing aid services and equipment.
