Guide I Licence
As a general rule, the NB Fish and Wildlife Act requires that non-residents must be accompanied by a licensed guide to hunt game species or to fish for Atlantic Salmon. A Guide I Licence may be issued to a person who intends to charge a fee or reward for their guiding service.
Must be 18 years of age or older and a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada as defined in the federal Immigration Act. First-time applicants must successfully complete the guide exam at a DNR office.
A guide may guide up to 3 clients at one time but cannot hunt or fish while guiding. An exception and special rules apply to guides who wish to fish for a client. Special rules also apply to guides when accompanying clients who choose to fish from a boat. Please refer to the NB "Fish" and "Hunt/Trap" summary (see below under Related Links) of regulations booklets for more details concerning rules that apply to guides. Guide Licences expire on December 31 each year.
Contact the nearest Natural Resources office or use the Hunting and Fishing Guides Directory link provided on this page for a list of guide I (professional) licence holders.
