Expanded Rogersville school renamed14 September 2017
ROGERSVILLE (GNB) – École secondaire Assomption in Rogersville has been renamed Étoile de l’Acadie.
The school is undergoing a $9.9 million renovation project to convert the building to a K-12 school and accommodate students from l’École W.-F.-Boisvert.
“These renovations will allow for an improved learning experience for local students in kindergarten through to Grade 12,” said Kent North MLA Bertrand LeBlanc. “L’Étoile de L’Acadie will provide students and families with more resources and educational opportunities.”
LeBlanc attended for Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny.
Construction on the former École secondaire Assomption began in June 2016. Renovations were made to existing classrooms and the gym while an addition provided new classrooms, music rooms, a cafeteria, a stage and workshops.
Minor upgrades are also planned for the soccer field and playground. All renovations are expected to be completed in 2018.
The new name was unveiled today as the school opened to students.
About $88 million will be invested in public schools in 2017-18 as part of the capital budget. The government’s 10-year education plans aim to improve educational outcomes and better prepare young people for the future. They set objectives in priority areas to create lifelong learners, support educational leaders and bring stability to the system.
