Statement on withdrawal of charges12 September 2014
Fredericton (GNB) – Assistant Deputy Attorney General Luc Labonté released the following statement on the withdrawal of charges against Andrew Harvey, David Harvey and Fred Harvey:
The Office of the Crown Prosecutor can confirm the charges against Andrew Harvey, David Harvey and Fred Harvey have been withdrawn.
The decision to withdraw charges rests solely with the Crown Prosecutor’s office, which is independent from government.
Given the profile of this case, a secondary review was initiated. It was subsequently determined that the charges didn't meet the threshold required to prosecute.
As a result of this decision, there will be a review of the process that resulted in the laying of the charges.
