Celebration marks longest-serving reign of the Queen
Today, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, became the longest-reigning monarch, surpassing the record of her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. Lt.-Gov. Jocelyne Roy Vienneau marked this milestone with a reception and the planting of a rosebush at Government House in Fredericton. In recognition of the Queen as a strong female role model, invited guests for the event included female mayors, First Nation chiefs, elders, members of the Monarchist League, the International Order of the Daughters of the Empire and Les Dames d’Acadie. A book of good wishes is available daily which will be forwarded to the Queen later this fall. Photo shows the lieutenant-governor planting the rosebush accompanied by her husband Ronald Vienneau and the invited guests, some with their spouses.
