Government invests in improved response to sexual violence
Justice Minister and Attorney General Marie-Claude Blais, who is also minister responsible for women’s issues, presented $200,000 to Lorraine Whalley, executive director, Fredericton Sexual Assault Crisis Centre, representing the first of three investments into the continued implementation of a provincially co-ordinated response to sexual assault. This funding, provided by the Women’s Issues Branch, will support an ongoing commitment by the Fredericton Sexual Assault Crisis Centre to lead the Provincial Strategy on Sexual Assault Services by focusing on provincial co-ordination, training, counselling, awareness and education, and health-care of sexual assault survivors.
