Consumer Product Warranties
This Act defines Express and Implied Warranties, and provides consumers with remedy for breaches. This legislation applies to any consumer product supplied by someone who deals in consumer products of that kind. This Act applies to used goods as well as new, but does not cover private sales.
No license is required under this Act.
This Act protects consumers by defining Express Warranties (those given verbally or in writing) as any statement or promise made by the seller that the consumer relies on in making the purchase and is reasonable in doing so. The Act further protects consumers by defining Implied Warranties as consumer rights, regardless of whether or not the seller makes any promise or statement. In addition, the Act provides remedies for consumers who experience a breach in warranty.
