Pay Equity Program - Community Residence Sector
In June 2009, the Province of New Brunswick committed to implement a pay equity program and achieve pay equity for direct caregivers in community residences serving children/youth and adults with significant need.

The program will:
• consult with Direct Caregivers and their employers, provide information sessions;
• establish the Joint Steering Committee and the Joint Job Evaluation Committee;
• develop Job Analysis Questionnaires, completion of Job Analysis Questionnaires and develop job descriptions; and
• complete job evaluations, pay equity exercises and provide results and recommendations of the program to government.
The goal of the program is to determine if direct caregivers working in Community Residences are undervalued and if any pay inequity exists.
Pay inequity has a social and economic impact to both women and men.
