FREDERICTON (GNB) – NB Power is helping New Brunswickers save money with in-store discounts on select energy-efficient products throughout the month of October.

"After an incredibly successful first year of this program, we are working with Efficiency New Brunswick again to offer our customers even more opportunities to save money on energy-saving products that will help them save money in the long-term on their power bills,” said Gaëtan Thomas, president and CEO of NB Power.

By taking advantage of the Save Twice program this spring, New Brunswickers helped save 9.1 gigawatt hours of energy by purchasing more than 64,000 energy-efficient light bulbs and more than 10,660 programmable thermostats.

This month, NB Power will offer discounts of between $3- $15 on eligible ENERGY STAR qualified CFL and LED light bulbs, WaterSense labeled showerheads as well as electronic and programmable thermostats.

Details on how New Brunswickers can take advantage of the rebate program are available online.

Save Twice is an important part of NB Power's long-term strategy to reduce future costs, reduce reliance on fossil-fuel energy, and provide customers with tools to control their monthly bills. Additional efficiency rebate programs will be designed and rolled out over the next three years.

This strategy also includes investments in technology to make better use of green energy through Smart Grid, the introduction of electric vehicles and the province-wide rollout of energy-saving LED street lights for municipalities.

Efficiency New Brunswick will deliver the rebate program on behalf of NB Power. The Government of New Brunswick committed provincial electric utilities to invest in efficiency programs as part of its 2011 New Brunswick Energy Blueprint.
