New fund for community recreation infrastructure25 January 2021
FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government is helping to make recreation facilities throughout New Brunswick more inclusive.
A new fund has been established to support community recreation efforts that will improve accessible recreation infrastructure and spaces to benefit the needs of a broad range of users. The Inclusive Community Recreation Infrastructure Fund will support up to 100 per cent of eligible expenses to a maximum of $10,000.
“We are committed to ensuring we have infrastructure in place at recreational facilities to support accessible spaces,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “This fund will enhance existing recreational infrastructure and allow more New Brunswickers to participate in recreational activities in their communities.”
The fund is available to recreational facilities including those in municipalities and First Nations, and non-profit recreation and sport facilities. Eligible infrastructure improvements that increase access to participation include, but are not limited to, entrance ramps and pathways, power door operators, lifts, accessible swings, visual aids, culturally and socially supportive environments, and diverse and equitable spaces.
The application form and additional information are available online.
