Video contest for New Brunswick students19 June 2018
FREDERICTON (GNB) – A video contest for kindergarten to Grade 11 students was launched today.
The contest is to encourage students to create a video promoting their respective regions while reminding New Brunswickers that Getting away is closer than you think. It is a joint initiative between the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
“We are excited to see which places in the province are inspiring the next generation,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “This contest is a fun and creative way for youth to explore and discover new places, to share their stories and experiences with others, and instill pride in their province. We encourage all New Brunswickers to unplug, go outside and discover the many treasures that our province has to offer.”
Last year, the Getting away is closer than you think campaign was launched to encourage New Brunswickers to spend their summer vacations in the province in order to experience its natural wonders, hidden gems, world-class attractions, unique heritage and culture.
“I invite students to participate in the contest to highlight their area,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Brian Kenny. “I can hardly wait to see the videos that will showcase our young people’s creativity in promoting their province.”
Students from kindergarten to Grade 11 can shoot a 30-second to two-minute tourism video and submit it to the website. They have until July 25 to submit their video. Contest rules and guidelines are also available online.
The following prizes are eligible to be won:
- first place: a drone with camera;
- second place: iPad and case; and
- third place: GoPro camera.
