During the Intake process, the screener and needs assessment specialist will enter the financial data required for NB Case to automatically determine the appropriate Basic Household Rate. The following is a list of possible rates:

 

Transitional Assistance Rate

This indicates the case is eligible for the Transitional Assistance (TA) rate of assistance. It is automatically calculated by the system, based on the information entered into the system. People who meet the following criteria will receive assistance at this rate:

  • Parental units
  • 2 person units
  • Clients who have one of the following designations:
    - Determined Social Needs
    - Long-Term Health Needs
    - Long-Term Health Needs – Regional

 

Transitional Assistance Single Employable

This indicates the client is eligible for the Transitional Assistance –Single Employable (TA-SE) rate of assistance. It is automatically calculated by the system, based on the information entered into the system. Single person units who do not have a designation and are not certified blind, deaf or disabled will receive this rate of assistance, including those who meet the following criteria:

● Single clients living in the parental home:

  • Who have an SD Medical Report completed by a physician stating that they are unable to work for six months or more or that they are seven months pregnant. (SD assesses the impact of the medical condition on the individual's ability to work),
  • Who are 55 years of age and older

 

Extended Benefits

This indicates the client is eligible for the Extended Benefit Program rate. It is automatically calculated, based on the information entered into the system. This rate is available to certified blind, deaf or disabled clients.
