Case Management is a process of coordinating and brokering the multiple career development services needed to progress an individual towards self-sufficiency. This is done in collaboration with the client, other team members and service providers.

Case management services are offered to all clients receiving social assistance. In addition to financial support, clients with the potential for employment are assisted by a case manager with the development of an individual career development case plan. Case plans often start with a focus on the foundational components of employability such as health, housing, or communication skills before shifting to focus on education, training or employment.

Clients work with their case manager to develop a mutually agreed upon plan that provides opportunities and support to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude required to overcome barriers preventing their access to education, training, and employment. Potentially employable individuals are provided service by the Career Development Opportunities program.
