Where ticks hide

Outsmart ticks by learning where they hide

Ticks can be active whenever the temperature is consistently above freezing and the ground isn't covered by snow. You're most likely to encounter ticks during the spring, summer and fall.

Ticks are usually found in wooded and tall grassy areas that provide shade and help prevent ticks from drying out. This includes forests with leaf litter and near the edges of forests. Ticks are also found near areas with trees, shrubs, tall grass or piles of leaves.

Be Tick Smart and know where ticks hide.  Walk on cleared paths or trails.  Keep children and pets from wandering off paths. Avoid using trails created by animals (such as deer and moose), as ticks are often found on the grass and plants along these trails.
