Remove the stigma and talk about mental health31 January 2018
FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers are encouraged to talk about reducing the stigma around mental health.
“We can all help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by conducting some actions like paying attention to words we use about mental illness and understanding the signs of mental illness,” said Health Minister Benoît Bourque. “Our best defence is to understand the warning signs, but, mostly, it is to simply talk about it. That is how we are going to break the stigma.”
People needing help are encouraged to call the CHIMO helpline at 1-800-667-5005 or Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868. They can also contact their nearest community mental health centre or consult their family doctor.
