Excluding Antarctica and the high seas, ninety-four percent of the world`s remaining wilderness (vast areas of unmodified land and sea) is found in 20 countries, with Canada holding the second largest share. Biodiversity in Canada and worldwide is facing unprecedented pressures due to human land and sea use, invasive species, overuse of species, pollution, and climate change. In response to international commitments to address this global biodiversity crisis, Canada has created a national Nature Strategy with clear goals and targets to stop and reverse biodiversity loss. New Brunswick is committed to play its part and is creating its own strategy aligned with Canada`s Goals and Targets.
