Twice a year, New Brunswickers are encouraged to get out and try fishing for free. Fish NB Days is a fun way to enjoy recreational fishing and our province’s natural beauty.

Fish NB Days take place during the Family Day long weekend in February (February 17-19, 2024) and the first full weekend of June (June 1-2, 2024).

In our beautiful picture province, you can find opportunities to fish just about everywhere. With more than 2,500 lakes, 60,000 kilometres of rivers and brooks and a wide variety of species to fish, New Brunswick offers excellent fishing adventures.

An angling licence is not required for residents or non-residents on Fish NB Days. However, all current catch limits, closures and other restrictions including access to Crown Reserve waters, Crown Angling Leases and private waters remain in effect during Fish NB Days. In winter, Fish NB Days includes only those waters that are open for winter fishing. For more information see Fish Book – Summary of Regulations. Individuals whose angling privileges have been revoked cannot fish on Fish NB Days.

Get out and enjoy the thrill of fishing in New Brunswick’s summer or winter seasons. Any season is a great time for family and friends to connect with some of our greatest natural resources – our lakes, rivers, streams and the fish that live in them. New anglers are encouraged to talk to local fishing tackle retailers, Fish and Game associations and other experienced anglers to help them plan their fishing experiences.
